Named “The Emerald City”, the shiny and vibrant port city located in the Pacific Northwest is full of life! The space needle, built in the 1960’s is widely regarded as its symbol. Seattleites are proud of their brewed coffee, their bookstores and their rain, of course!

House to many breweries and wineries (Woodinville being a must nearby town for wineries and vineyards), the sky is the limit for places to enjoy a good sip. With good restaurant options in the area across the city center and Pioneer Square, which sits in the older part of town, part of it lying underground (there’s even a tour of some sections!). The waterfront is a must-see, Situated here is the Seattle Aquarium, and a pier where you can enjoy sunset views. You could even board one of the many ferries that sail across the Puget Sound from here, for just a few dollars!

Great family destination! The Seattle Center hosts the Pacific Science Center, with IMAX theaters and a laser dome (pacificsciencecenter. org, 2021). The grounds were designed as part of the world fair of 1962, along with its star feature, the Space Needle, which is at a walking distance, open everyday, offering breathtaking views of the city. With plenty of art galleries, small coffee shops and malls, you got everything you might like at reach.

The Seattle Seahawks, the Sounders and the Mariners are all very well known teams, and their fans fill out the streets and the adjacent stadiums quite often. Traffic then getting pretty rough. The pandemic has greatly diminished that lately, of course.

As with other posts, we go over the not-so shiny aspects of the place. There’s homelessness present in many areas around the city. While it has been quiet on that respect recently, protests take place often throughout the streets, sometimes turning pretty violent, and even deadly. Avoid visiting while this happens. Like in any other city, exercise common sense and have safety in mind at all times, while visiting.

Houseboats, like the one in “sleepless in Seattle” can be seen near the city, along with billionaire homes in Lake Washington. The near-by city of Bellevue and the University of Washington (UW) are also top of the list attractions.

The modern international Seatac airport that serves two cities (Seattle and Tacoma) is located fourteen miles south of Seattle. There’s a variety of hotel options near the airport for all budgets. You should also consider secondary airports like Paine Field airport, twenty two miles north, near the city of Everett.

Our best suggestion: You can’t miss Pike Place, where you could fulfill your dream of being face-slapped by a freshly wet king salmon (just kidding!), but could definitely watch them fly from hand to hand by being sold and bought at the fish market. A myriad of different products ranging from fresh produce, seafood, art crafts, shoes and clothes, souvenirs and anything else we missed, (and you could possibly think of) is sold here!. We also suggest watching the port from here, nice view!

Seattle, so unique, so cool.!
